The Diary Game [24/08/2024]// My Kid Sister’s Graduation from Teachers Training College

Steem greetings all the way from the motherland-Cameroon to all friends on the Steemit ecosystem. It's the weekend as usual with lots of celebrations and Thanksgiving. My family was not indifferent to this weekend as we joined together to celebrate the success of my kid sister.

For those in Cameroon, we can best testify that there is no such thing as little occasion because you will be surprised by the turnover at the event. It saves you from being embarrassed that food is finished and everyone has not yet eaten hehehe🤣.

We (her sisters) had to step in to support her with some of the food preparations and also offer her a gift for her house opening that was last week. Guys, remember I did share a diary of my kid sister's house opening but I did not show the gift we bought for her because my dad and mom could not make it to town last week for some reasons, we decided to hand the gift on her graduation day because Dad and Mom were present.

The previous days I had to accompany her to the market to buy some food items we would use to prepare the meals for the day. It was raining throughout that Friday and we had to persevere to buy all the things.

On graduation day, I was to supervise the cooking as my kid sister will be on campus with her husband and our mom and dad. My elder sister was present and she had to stocked the refrigerator with the items we brought to the fridge.

Other women were at the fireside outdoor cooking different meals such as achu and yellow soup (our traditional delicacy), fried rice, okonghobong and yam, fried chicken and fish.

I supervised all the cooking until it was almost done and I had to engage in preparing vegetable salad for the occasion. I took all the veggies available for the salad, sliced them into desirable slices and washed them with clean water and vinegar. I boiled eggs, peeled them and use to decorate the salad.

By midday, we were done cooking and had to set the table. I ensured everything was set before the arrival of the celebrant. She is our last born and we had all right to celebrate her for her success. She was overall 2nd in her batch. We could not accompany her to the graduation grounds because only two invitees were allowed to the graduation ground.

We waited for the arrival of the graduate till it was almost 4:00 PM when she arrived. We had to rush the program because we were living in a crisis zone and had lots of insecurity. We ushered the celebrant into the house and immediately started with a welcome word from the husband.

Guys, I have never seen an occasion where guests are welcomed with champagne. Two bottles of champagne were shared with all available at the welcome moment from the celebrant and the husband. Then we proceeded to cut the cake. It was late, and we had to rush everything.

The next item for the day was the handing over of gifts. We started with this part of handling the fridge and then her husband's brother's wives handed us another gift. It was so colourful with a lot of dancing and cheering up.

The last item on the agenda was eating time. This is one of the best moments of an occasion as everyone is waiting to celebrate while eating and drinking 😆. The table was opened for everyone to go around and dish whatever they desired.

Guys, it was a success as we joined together to celebrate with my kid sister. There was no rain till evening and we were all happy. I left the occasion immediately after eating and returned back home safely. Until my next diary session, I wish you all a blessed weekend.
