Greetings dear steemitians, today I will disclose winners of the contest on emergency care: payment before treatment. Before announcing the winners, I will give a summary of what the contest was all about and what was required from participants.

Summary of the Contest.

Emergency happens at any given time and most countries especially less developing countries, medical insurance is not necessary because most people cannot afford to pay medical insurance. Also many do not keep money aside waiting for a day when they would encounter emergency cases.

Most often we hear of patients dying after encountering emergency situations that required treatment especially within private hospitals. Patients are only treated after a certain amount of money is deposited before the commencement of treatment. This has caused a lot of pain among some families as they lost their love ones because they could not deposit a certain amount before treatment.

In some cases, after treatment, the patient is kept at the hospital till his or her bill is settled before the patient is released to go home.

What was required from Participants.

There was no hard rule but rather simple guidelines outlined for participants to follow and create quality content regarding emergency care situations in their various countries. The following were guiding questions outlined.

• What is the situation in your country when it comes to emergency care?
• What does it take to humanize healthcare delivery in your country.?
• Do you encourage or discourage the idea of payment before treatment?
• If you are appointed minister of public health in your country, how will you tackle this?
• Advise Hospital directors, caregivers, and patients about this issue.
