World Press Freedom Day

World Freedom Day is celebrated on 3rd May every year in the whole world to highlight the importance of media and the role of free and independent media in democratic society it is declared by the United National General Assembly in 1993 it was observed to raise the awareness about the duty and respect in the right of freedom of expression.

We can see in the picture freedom's index in 2023 The article 19 which is passed in 1948 by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights press freedom is very important for the functioning of democracy because by allowing this every citizen has his own power and accountability.

We all know that when journalists are free to raise the issues and report every single case like harassment, or violence without any fear this transparency is very important for the good and healthy democracy but it doesn't happen in every country especially south asian country.

Theme of World Press Freedom Day

The theme of world press freedom day is also raise the awareness role of free and independent media democratic society but this theme changes every year if we talked about the the theme of lst yeas it was Information as a Public Good it means the journalists should give the correct report to the public but the journalists are under threat in all over the world if we discussed about the 2020 about 50 journalists killed on the duty many journalists killed due to their reporting on corruption and human rights abusing physical attacks are also increasing all over the world.

What should we do on World Press Freedom Day

We all know that Covid-19 had a great impact on Press freedom so here I want to discuss some main points about that we should do on this day:

• First of all we should spread awareness about the importance of press freedom.

• Government should take great steps to save the journalists from threats.

• We should give our best to the organisation's and donate some money to journalists organization.

• We should organise the seminar and functions to give the guidance to people.

• We should raise the voice the people who killed in the past years as journalists.

So these are some major points that we can do on the world press freedom day.

World press freedom day is very important for the reminder of importance of press in our country journalists face many challenges in their life when they are on duty they face threats from different people and agencies I hope you will like my post and encouraging me to create more content.
