Greetings my great steemians and lovely contest organisers. I am always feeling so happy to participate in this great contest because sharing how my best day went makes it so complete. Last week was very nice and I believe this week will be more of joy and happiness. Let's get down to my best day content.
Food is really important in our lives including plants and animals. Here in my country we have diverse local foods which are more nutritional than junks and other varieties. I have been longing to eat our very own delicacy called the ekpankukwo here in my dialect.
Early in the morning before meeting up with the chores at home, I told mom that it been long we eat ekpankukwo and I really want to have a taste again.
She replied saying, the procedures cooking that very delicacy is so cumbersome and expensive. The only way I can process it is if you will help me through the meal.
I responded quickly, yes ma'am. We rushed to the market to get some food stuffs like, onions, pepper, crayfish, meat, wateryam and other essential food ingredients.
On reaching home, I didn't waste much time pulled off my shirts to do start up the preparation. My younger brother helped to peel the wateryam so I will wash and grate it. Mom went to get fresh cocoyam leaves for the wrapping from our closeby farm, I rushed in with her to help just like I agreed.
I washed the wateryam for grating, so many people thinks the manual way of grating is so tiring and risky but to me it's nothing close to that. I rushed up with the grating part not minding how plenty the water yam was, I was happy because I will eat much too.
Mom told me to hurry up after returning from the farm, I finished up the grating and it was time for the wrapping. This very part looks so easy but it's actually the hardest. Here you have to tear a piece of the cocoyam fresh leaf to wrap the grated wateryam.
Mom actually wanted to take on this part alone so that I will help her fetch water from the drum.
It was already looking delicious from my own view, I can't wait to eat you.
Before then, I helped wash the periwinkle and other food stuffs for steaming. She finished up with the wrapping and was set to cook the ekpankukwo. Music was really my joy at the moment, I was fully happy that I danced while waiting for the meal.
The delicacy was looking so fresh and sumptuous while on fire. I couldn't stop opening the pot to check.
About 20 minutes, mom came to check the food on fire. It was about getting done, I rushed in to keep my plate and get ready for the meal. Mom really served me specially after bringing the pot down, I couldn't hold on too long for the food to get cold to start eating.
It was a great day for me, a day fulfilled. Having a great taste of the African delicacy. Aside that having to share the kitchen with my mom was totally awesome.
Wishing to you have such a great day again.
Thanks for going through my post ❤️
