What it takes to move from Gender-based violence to Gender Equality

Cultural identities is the background of people that includes traditions, struggles, achievements and triumphs. The African culture nourishes pride, resilience belonging, instersectional identities and connection to community which are all used to justify gender violence and inequality by evocking traditional beliefs and practices about how women and girls should be treated.

Furthermore, the culture of our community devalues women and therefore promotes gender-based violence. Culture plays a great role on how each gender views and errects barriers to various practices that promotes gender-based violence. With all these views, most African men who are victims of gender-based violence blames the western culture as they describe it to have a fixed line connecting the two.

Gender violence is the most extreme expression of gender oppression; how women are presented in our society tells us the presence and extent of inequality.

What it Takes to Gain Gender Equality

Equality needs to be made central

The community needs to be confronted for gender biased practices

Saying no to men and women violence

Movement of solidarity has to be built

Replacing relationships of power with relationships of meaning.

Violence has never been the best way of solving problems. Also i think gender equally can be maintain hear in cameroon by reducing traditional rites on women. Men turn to buy women in Africa in some cases its hard for the man to see the woman as a partner especially when she comes and she is playing only house wife

Violence is not acceptable and it’s awesome that you’re making an active effort to fight against it. We should all do same too.

No to violence, no to gender inequality.

"Replacing relationships of power with relationships of meaning"

Short but enriched right up. Violence seems to be the best thing for them. They are so addicted in hurting others that they can seem to stop it. This is a call for concern and so we all need to act positively to stop the violence on women
