Introduction.

What is Excel?

Microsoft Excel is a software found in the office package, which is a data visualisation and a software which can be used for analysis. It uses a spreadsheet to store data, track data sets with Formulas and functions. Excel can be operated by everyone but most importantly by data analysts, Accountants, maketers, large and small organisations, etc. If you have large data and you are asking yourself how to keep it safe, excel is the plug.

Uses of Microsoft Excel

Excel just like any other application has its own uses which may include;

Business Analysis.

Business analysis is done using data collected on the day to day running of the company. Modern Business Men record sales for every item they sell and at the end of the day a sum total of all what has been sold is calculated. This is done every blessed day the business operates and business analyst when this information is presented to them, can from their observations and analysis use this information to make business decisions. For Example, If from the data presented to the analyst on an excel spreadsheet, it is discovered There are no sales on sunday, The information will be transmitted to the managers of the company and they might decide to always shut their doors on Sunday and concernterate on the days which are profitable.

People Management

People are really very difficult to manage. At first we used ledger books to fill in information of people working in an organisation. It was a lengthy and tiring process. Excel which has come with so many cool features can manage people without stress. You want to know how excel can manage people?
Information about people can be gathered and stored in one column or one row. One row canbe used to store information about User A the other information about User B and the rountine continues till whenever . You could get information about people who work in the company ( Name, Gender, marital status, date employed, salary, benefits, age, Number of children etc) and also of customers, What they bought, when then bought it and how much they paid.

it is a specialised form of business analysis that can be done using excel. To convert data into a performance report, is to create a pivote table and link it to data.

MS excel has a lot of uses and its really important I recomend you look at bfore we dive into the work proper.
