Water which we all know, is very essential for life. It is also important for all parasites and organisms that infect both man and animals.
It should be noted that many infectious diseases are related to water, one way or another. The spread and transmission of these diseases depend directly on water.
Water could also serve as a habitat for either of their hosts be it intermediate or final. Some bacteria, viral and protozoan diseases are usually transmitted by drinking water. Especially in poultry farming.
The quality of water as well as amount of water consumed is very essential for the general wellbeing of livestock, poultry and pigs.
Though livestock may not show the symptoms of water borne diseases, it still affects the growth and lactation of these animals. In some cases it will affect reproduction.
Thus, it is very important to ensure good quality water for our animals welfare and healthy reproduction.
