Surprise or promise, which do you prefer?// 4/06/2024

Hello steemians.

Surprise is the part that drag me to this contest because I so much love surprises and I hate promises because it comes with excuses and failure.

Surprise brings excitement to the receivers while promise gives the person promised a false hope and most times, expectations that will either make or break him or her.

So many times I have gotten promises from people and even close friends, most times they fail to keep to their promises and only few keep to it.
I remember a friend of mine promised to get me a pair of shoes last month, I was so hopeful, I even anticipated it, waited for it and every started sharing the news with my siblings, I was excited about it, plan my dress to use with the new shoes and I waited. First week of May passed nothing, second week came nothing, I keep chatting her, hoping to hear her say something about the shoes but she said nothing, I kept faith alive not untill last week I just gave up on it and she just started developing cold attitude towards me and I knew deep within me that this is a failed promised so I move ahead and shake it off me.

Yes I have had many surprises, and I love been taken unawares too but for good oh.
This week I got a surprise ring light from my shuga berry friend, I have discussed wanting a ring light before with him one or few times. After months of wanting it, I got a surprise ring light yesterday and I was so so excited, my joy was overflowing. It was so fine and I was just shouting all through. Thank you shuga berry for the surprised I loved it.

Have you ever surprise or Promise someone? Explain.

I have surprised my big sis with gift one early morning and her joy that day was heavenly. She was so excited. I make a family portrait for her and the family after her child dedication and took it to her two days after in the morning. She keep telling me sister thank you, thank you, she was so excited to received it and I was very happy to see the excitement.

In as much as I don't like promising anybody anything, I only do it when I can do it and most times I do it to take the person off my back.
There was a certain time, a guy asked me to borrow him money, he pleaded, I knew he won't pay back so I promised to give him by month end, and by month end, I told him I don't have it. It was bad but I just did not want to give it out to avoid had I know.

Do you believe in the statement “a promise is a debt”? Expatiate.
No I don't, what if the promiser can't pay the debt what happens to the person involved.

If you want to help or give somebody something instead of putting yourself in the spot to make promises why not just surprise the person and go your way.
Promise like I said before gives one false expectations and hope and it might cause the expecting person his sleep, joy, peace of mind and even food.

Personally, I don't need that debt, keep the debt and surprise me with the debt.
