Good morning to all members in this great Community, I trust we’re all doing good.
My name is Hasana Kataali and @kataali on steemit.

Thanks so much to the @thegreens for always educating and inspiring the people about Climate , how to restore nature and ways of conserving or recycling of waste.

Today, I am to discuss with you what Climate change is, it's causes, effects and their practical solutions in my Community.

I am Level 300 student of Biotechnology and Molecular Biology in the University for Development Studies.

I am in the Faculty of Bioscience and Agriculture.
For that matter, I like discussing issues regarding healthcare and Agriculture.

CLIMATE

This refers to the average weather condition of a place over a long period of time.

CLIMATE CHANGE

This is attributed directly or indirectly to human activity that modifies the composition of the global atmosphere, in addition to natural climate variability observed over comparable time periods.

The heat of the sun is trapped as greenhouse gas emissions which blanket the Earth. As a result, global warming and climate change occur. The Earth is currently warming at a rate unprecedented in recorded history.

CAUSES OF CLIMATE CHANGE IN MY COMMUNITY

The majority of the climatic changes we are witnessing are primarily caused or hastened by our own actions. Listed below are some activities that causes or hasten climate
change in my Community.

Generating electricity

Burning fossil fuels like coal, oil, and natural gas to generate electricity and heat accounts for a significant portion of world emissions.

The level at which my Community members burn charcoal and gasses for cooking and other domestic purposes is very high, because that is the only way that they can cook and perform other domestic activities. The emissions released from the burning of these fossils causes global warming , which leads to climate change in my Community.

Deforestation

Destruction of forest is one of the activities which is practice by the people of my Community.
The main source of livelihood in my Community is by engaging in Farming Activities.

Therefore, Farmers usually cut down forests to make way for farms or pastures, or for other reasons, this results in emissions because trees release the carbon they have been storing when they are chopped down. Destruction of trees, which absorb carbon dioxide, reduces nature's ability to keep emissions out of the atmosphere.

Taking public transportation

The major means of transportation in my community is by the use of mottobikes, cars, and tricycles.

The emissions released from the exhaust of these mottobikes and cars are significant source of greenhouse gases, particularly carbon dioxide. This leads to global warming and intend cause climatic changes in my Community.

Manufacturing of products

Emissions are produced by manufacturing and industry, primarily from the burning of fossil fuels to generate energy for the production of cement, iron, steel, electronics, plastics, clothing, and other items. Gases are also released by mining and other industrial operations.

EFFECTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE

Below are some of the effects that Climatic change has on my Community.

Sarcity of Food

Changes in climate, as well as an increase in extreme weather events, are contributing to a global increase in hunger and malnutrition. Crops and livestock in the fishing industry may be damaged or become less productive. Heat stress can deplete water supplies and grazing grounds.

Drought has become more severe.

Most at times, members of my Community are experiencing water scarcity. Droughts can cause devastation by causing massive sand and dust storms that can transport billions of tons of sand across continents.

Drought is a big problem in my community expecially during dry season. Due to this, Majority of the Farmers depend on rain-fed Agriculture, were they only cultivate crops during rainy season.

Females are the ones that suffer the most during this period.
Females in my Community expecially those living in the more deprived areas go significant distances to acquire water for their families and the water they collect isn't in good enough condition to use for cooking putting their lives in danger.

Species extinction

Climate change puts species on land and in the sea at risk of extinction. As the temperature rises, so do the risks. Many risks exist, including forest fires, harsh weather, and invasive pests and illnesses. Some species will be able to relocate and survive, while others will be unable to do so.

Fluctuation in Rainfall

Temperature changes lead to fluctuations in rainfall. As a result, storms become more violent and frequent. Flooding and landslides occur as a result of them, damaging homes and towns and costing billions of pounds.

Floods have the potential to sweep slums away, destroying homes and livelihoods. Working outside in the heat might be difficult.

Health

Malaria is spreading as a result of changing weather patterns.

Extreme weather events increase disease and death, making health-care systems difficult to keep up with. Increased hunger and poor nutrition are further health problems in places where people cannot grow or find enough food.

PRACTICAL SOLUTIONS TO CLIMATE CHANGE IN MY COMMUNITY

Energy Conservation

Energy conservation is one technique to help prevent global warming. Reduce the amount of energy spent or ensure that it is used as efficiently as feasible is what energy conservation entails.

In other words, we should not waste energy that we do not require. “Replacing one commonly used light bulb with a compact fluorescent light bulb will have saved some pounds of CO2 per year” As a result, conserving energy is a cost-effective strategy to reduce global warming.

Recycling

Recycling is one of the most effective techniques to aid in the reduction of global warming.

Instead of burning or throwing away old objects, we could recycle them. As a result, greenhouse gas emissions from energy use would be reduced, and if truly implemented, global warming would be significantly slowed.

The existence of greenhouse gas emissions grows with time, trapping more heat and exacerbating the problem of climate change. I advise all governments to begin a public awareness campaign that emphasizes the importance of the problem for peasants.

Afforestation

Restoring nature's ability to absorb carbon. The natural world does an excellent job of cleaning up our pollutants, but we must take care of it.
It's an excellent place to start by planting trees in the correct places or returning land to nature through tree planting projects. This is due to the fact that photosynthesising plants absorb carbon dioxide as they grow, storing it in soils.

We, as humans, can assist mitigate climate change by reducing the negative effects of trees in the forest.
As a result, everyone over the world should be encouraged to plant trees, and deforestation should be discouraged.
