So I arrived koutaba last night with one of my team members and we lodged in a hotel here. We got up as early as 6AM to prepare for the day. While many people think filmmaking is easy, I will love to clarify that it's super hard and needs the best of patience and energy to pull through. So we got up at 6AM prayer arranged our equipments and started the day. Luckily for us the producer had are arranged for us this green car to carry us around.
We moved first to an Islamic school here where we started filming. Unfortunately for us when we go there it was rainy so we had to wait in the car before we could film. We waited like for 30-40 minutes before the rain stopped and from there we started filming. When we were done we went to town.
In town we waited for our next interviewee to talk to her. She is a counselor and has handled over 100 cases of GBV. We spoke to her and got to understand the causes of GBV in the noun division. It was an interesting discourse and what stood out for me was the fact that the mama whom I think is in her 60s spoke really great English.
When we finished with her together with my team member we retired to our hotel and I had the opportunity to buy my burning corn and eat. One thing very unique about koutaba is the fact that every road can lead you to the main road. And the people are very welcoming. I'll be bringing more updates on my trip here, hoping you learn more about this part of Cameroon.
