Hello beautiful steem world!

Accept warm greetings from Bamenda, one of the English regions of Cameroon. I am so delighted to share with you my diary and I woke up 5Am and prepared my kids to school. Due to the three weeks locked down we witnessed here in Bamenda made their school reschedule catch-up classes on Saturday for them .
Saturday classes had been suspended since the massacre that took place in a mission school in the South West but now proprietors are caught in between.

After I dropped off my kids in school, I came home and continue with chores. My body still reacts to the anaesthesia I had during my Caesarian section six weeks ago. Am not strong enough to Carry heavy weight objects. And it's a privilege to be alive and to celebrate another world anaesthesia day.

Every 16th October, the world anaesthesia day is been celebrated to mark the first demonstration of diethyl ether anaesthesia in 1884. The father of anaesthesia William T.G Morton, a young Boston doctor who had been in the search for agent than what had been used by many dentist, nitrous oxide. The discovery made it easier for patients to obtain the benefits of surgical procedure and treatment without pain.

Generally, there are four types of anaesthesia namely; general, sedation, local anaesthesia, and lastly regional anaesthesia.
General anaesthesia is what most people think of when they hear the word" anaesthesia" .

During general anaesthesia, you are unconscious and have no awareness or sensations. Many different medications may be used during general anaesthesia. Some are anaesthesia gases or vapors that are given through a breathing tube or mask. Back in 2017 , I had to go through this type of anaesthesia due to placenta previa. Upon gaining consciousness, I thought I had died and am in the after life because I could start to hear voices but could see anyone. Then later , I started seeing blurring images in the hospital which since I was laying and facing upward, the blurring images were the ropes of mosquito net in general hospital Bamenda until when I could see normal but couldn't feel the rest of my body. Thank God I got better and was discharged.
Secondly, regional anaesthesia makes an area of the body numb to preventhe patient from feeling pain. It completely blocks sensations from the area of the body that requires surgery. The anaesthesiologist injects local anaesthesia ( numbing medication) near the cluster of nerves that provides sensations to the area. Regional anesthesia maybe divided into epidural and spinal anaesthesia. Either one maybe used for child birth. Regional anesthesia allows you if during childbirth to be numb from your stomach to your legs but you can still feel the upward parts to your head.

On the second of September 2021, I was given an epidural for childbirth and before the surgical section, the anaesthesiologist had a one on one session with me where some of the questions he asked were; have you ever had any anaesthesia before? , How did it feel? Which type was I administered? What's my HIV status? Which year was it done? And many more. He also told me during my anaesthesia administration that during the surgery if I feel like nauseous let me let him know and all throughout the surgery he was beside my head checking and asking how I was feeling. I was pushed to my ward after and laid on the bed and was told to rest well. The next day same time I had the Caesarian section I was told to drink light pap, Lipton . And the next day to get up and walk because it's the walking that heals the wound.

Thirdly, Sedation also known as"monitored anaesthesia care" is what people often referred to as "twilight". Different levels of sedation are possible, depending on the type of procedure and the patient's preference. We have mild
and general sedation.

And lastly, local anaesthesia is the term used for medication such as lidocaine that are injected through a needle or applied as a cream to numb a small area. Local anaesthesia may provide enough pain relief for limited procedures such as sewing up a deep cut or filling dental cavities. Often used together with sedation during minor outpatient surgery.

Conclusively, at the end of many operation the surgeon may inject local anaesthesia to provide additional pain relief during recovery.
