Impromptu Talks At Ceremonies

Afternoon greetings from Bamenda City to the Steem fam!

Have you ever been chosen among many to give a brief impromptu talk at an occasion or event? Maybe you were asked to say a word of prayer, encouragement, or just to contribute.

Most people, when they find themselves in this position, they freeze, their heart starts pounding, their palms start sweating, and their mouth becomes as dry as bread. Because of this anxiety, your legs might start shaking and you start using "fillers" (um, huh, you know, and then). It could be because you don't know what to say. You wonder how you can overcome this.🤔

No more!

I would like to share with you a helpful formula for delivering an impromptu speech at a wedding, graduation ceremony, or many other celebrations.

This formula is PPC!

The first P in the above formula stands for the person or people who are celebrating a wedding, birthday, getting married, or graduating.

The second P stands for the place of the occasion or event. This refers to the decoration of the place or the aesthetics of the place.

The C stands for Cliché. Here, cliché stands for a wise saying that can be attributed to the celebrant(s) of the day.

This is how you use PPC!

For instance, let's assume that Promise is celebrating his birthday and you are called up to say something. Here's an example of how to use it: you could say something like this:

Today we are gathered here to celebrate someone I respect a lot, a selfless, dedicated, and amazing person. Ladies and gentlemen, please put your hands together for Promise (1P=Person).

He/She is the reason why we all are gathered here today at this beautifully decorated hall (2P=Place). I think the decor team deserves to be applauded for a job well done.

It is often said that to achieve sustainable success, you must be a disciplined person. If discipline were a person, that person would be Promise. And so, ladies and gentlemen, if you want to achieve sustainable success, I encourage you to be like Promise. Thank you! (C=Cliché).

If you master this formula, you will never lack what to say if you are called up to say something at a ceremony.

You are not limited to the way I just used PPC. You can get creative with the formula; you'll discover fun ways of applying it in different contexts.

Cheers 👏
