Climate Change and it's effects on food supply

Hello Steemians,Hope you all are keeping safe.Did you check the source of the food you are today? There are some people in another community who do not have the privilege to eat that because of the effects of climate change. With Climate change and it's negative consequences, a drop in food supply has already been noticed in some parts of my community.

Farmers in most parts of Bamenda have observed that the harvest of food crops this year is not the same as in the past years. This has proven true as the harvest is not as enormous as it used to be.Alot of factors have negatively affected the food production Sector ranging from scanty rainfall,to torrential downpours, harsh wins and flooding.

Climate change has affected the food production system as a whole and some farmers are bound to start thinking of mitigation strategies. Most farmers have lost crops to extreme weather conditions like extended dry seasons and late arrivals of rain. Most seeds do not germinate in time due to dry and dusty soils. Some of the crops are uprooted or destroyed by insects and animals who have lost food availability in their natural habitat due to change climate and deforestation. On the other hand torrential rainfall has caused flooding landslides and erosion. Thus, destroying crops in the farms and reducing yield. Due to scanty rainfall and harsh sunshine during the farm season, most farms have produced fewer yields this year.

The cutting down of trees have promoted the dominance and concentration of green house gases in the atmosphere causing global warming. Consequently, this has affected the crops yield and quality, as they no long taste as good as natural food would. Many people have not noticed the changes and expect that things will change soon.No one from space can act upon the changes in our climate.Only a conscious effort towards mitigation is preferred.Tree planting is the number one solution to fighting climate change. There is still a chance to plant the tress while we can.The climate has changed and we can change it by changing our attitudes and actions towards ourselves and our environment.Planting trees is obligatory.

For potatoes we used to sale one tin (20L) for 400f sometimes 300 f but now the cheapest is 4000f for 15L not even 20L what is happening ? Lets come together and look into this

Waouh! What a great write up! I love this. Climate change in Cameroon is real dealing with us. I went to the market the other day to get myself some groundnuts and to my surprise it was finished and the price of the available ones drove me away.
I just remembered some years back on 2008 where even in October i was eating groundnuts in food quantity.🥺

It's not been easy .you would notice a drop in plum supply, groundnuts and plantains.food is just getting our of place.

Climate change is really disturbing and affecting us but we are Africa..I still don’t get why developed countries without enough green vegetation like us get to live well and consume better than we do when we have all the green vegetation to help us combat climate change...They are the ones with all the machines...urbanization and all sorts of carbon emissions but yet we suffer even more than they do .

It's sad as I was wondering too but I think the win has a role to play as it carries the polluted air around.

Thank you for this beautiful piece. You always educate me through your posts about something or another. I didn't know how much affected is the food supply in my own town, Bamenda. I will try my best to reduce climate change as best I can by planting trees and caring for the environment.
