Cultivating dry season Huckleberry.

Greetings dearsteemians. Today I like us to look at the cultivation of Huckleberry.

The seeds shoot in 7 days
Cultivation of Huckleberry is one of the main activities that constitutes the dry season. This is common for vegetable farmers in the Northwest Region of Cameroon. For the people who have access to water in their homes, Huckleberry is cultivated in farm areas close to the house. Those who do not have access to land close to their homes and water do the cultivation of Huckleberry in the marshy or swampy areas. These areas often stay wet in the course of the dry season till the approach of the rainy season in march. Most Huckleberry farmers prepare the land and nurse through its seeds or they have the seedlings transplanted in the marshy or swampy areas. The planting of the seeds or seedlings is done , accompanied by fowl droppings pig or cow dung.

In other for avoid the challenge of taking long hours to weed, the huckleberry beds are constructed in very large sizes to also ease management, like ; application of manure and harvesting.

Am Small quantity of manure is applied at nursing

When the seeds are broadcasted on the beds , a small quantity of the manure is applied on the beds . The seeds will be able to shoot and develop their first two leaves in 7 days .After this period ,ensure that the Huckleberry beds are watered if you notice any form of dryness .Monitor them from time to time and do the necessary maintenance like; the second application of manure and weeding . You can cultivate Huckleberry in a small or large quantity depending on how capable you can be to take care of it, or depending on the quantity you need . Thanks you for reading.
