Soybean is a legume related to the peas family.
It is widely grown for its edible beans and a source of protein in meals especially for children. There are different types of soybeans Known by different local names in different communities. Some are known as spike ,Safari, lukanga, and Dina . To grow a hectare of soybeans you would need 100 kg of its seeds. In order to avoid attacks on soybeans when planted , it is important to have the seeds go through the process of inoculation before they are planted. By the way, what is inoculation?
inoculation is a process of treating the seeds before planting, that is ;the introduction of a pathogen or antigen into the seeds to stimulate the production of antibodies. It is important that soya seed is inoculated with an inoculant. The inoculant will assist the soya bean fix its own nitrogen into the soil, this in return will help you not apply top dressing (urea) and therefore reduce your cost of production.

Growth process
The climate for planting soybeans varies from region to region depending on the weather conditions of the area. it can be planted with the other crops at the same time in the North West Region of Cameroon. It can also be planted along side the middle season crops and harvested in the dry season. If you are to plant in an area that was recently cultivated there would be no need for you to till the soil again.

You can space the bean as follows; between the lines 30cm ,between the plants 5cm and depth 2.5-3cm. while you're soybeans is growing, ensure that you maintain great hygienic conditions within the plants by weeding off all the weeds and treating it with a growth booster during flowering. Ensure to scout for insects immediately after crop emerges, and make spraying decisions. Common insects found in soya beans would include; Bean leaf beetles, soybeans aphids, fall armyworms, stink bugs, cutworms grasshopper etc. These vary from season to season and farm to farm. Soya beans matures at 90 – 100 days. At this time it’s ready to be pulled out of the field. With good management you can get a yield of 4tonnes/ha. On average most farmers are getting 2tons/ha.
1ton is equivalent to 1000kg.

Wow I’ve learn some few things from this write up. Thanks for sharing dear.

I actually did learn a lot from this post. Very rich with information on soybeans. I want to ask though. Do you buy already inoculated seeds or is there a laboratory for that around your region?
Thanks for sharing

thank you for you comment my dear. I am working on getting organic farm products and we tested the eco grow to inoculate maize and the results were amazing so we will subsequently test on beans and soybeans too.i will definitely share the results here .Thank you so much once again.
