Good evening steemians. I greet you all specially. A day in the life of a teacher can be boring but also interesting at the same time. Let me take you through a brief journey of my typical day as a teacher.
I must have slept so deep last night that I didn't hear my alarm clock ring this morning. On waking up, everywhere was so bright and it really scared me. I as thinking I a chunk of my time has been wasted already because I had a lot to do. On checking my time, it was already 7am so I had to head straight for the bathroom without saying my prayers.
I was able wash up in few minutes without delay; you know men don't waste time in the bathroom. The cold water was so tempting though and I wished I had stayed longer.
Feeling fresh and fly, I took few minutes to say my morning prayers as my day would feel empty without it.
Immediately I finished with the prayers, I dressed up without delay and off I went.
I was able to arrive at the office before 9am.
On getting to the office, I shared a few pleasantries and immediately got to work. I dived into marking assignment scripts.
Each one of the student is unique and with their answers, you could see their level of understanding. Interesting but sad part is that I could barely see nor understand some of their handwriting. Nevertheless, scripts have to be marked and I had to strain my eyes to make meaning out of some of their writings.
With the assignments marked, I got into setting of questions for tests and exams.
My aim of having a combination of brain-storming and challenging questions saw me spend much time on it. I started preparing the marking scheme by answering some of the questions I had set.
When I finished with setting the questions, I called one of my diligent students to assist in recording the scores from the scripts I earlier marked.
Intermittently, I engaged him in a conversation to know how prepared he and the colleagues were for the forthcoming test and exams. The encouragement and motivation I dished out today reminded me of how much I love the teaching profession.
After a fulfilling day, it was time to go home as my time was already 4:15pm.
It wasn't that late but there was barely anyone within the school campus by the time I was leaving.
On getting home, I felt a huge relief like a burden was lifted off my shoulder.
I had lunch; a satisfying jollof rice at that while pondering on the vents of the day.
I felt so happy and grateful to God for all I accomplished at the office today.
Evenings during this period is usually for church. A time set aside for reflecting on God's goodness in the past year and committing of the new year to His hands.
I had to rush so I could meet up with the brethren in good enough time. While on my way, I managed to take a selfie.
The road leading to the church was so calm and quiet. The evening breeze was soothing and the evening sun was shining in it's glory.
It's always a beautiful moment in God's presence. We reflected on His benevolence in the past year, prayed and committed the new year to His hands.
I returned home tired but content that I was able to meet up with the brethren in church. Nothing beats being in God's presence. I dashed into the shower for a cool bath and I'm sitting outside enjoying the night breeze.
A day in the life of a teacher; there you have it. I hope you enjoyed my diary. I promise you it will get interesting each day. Thank you for following me through my diary.
