MY JOURNEY FROM BAMENDA TO KUMBA THROUGH BATIBO ROAD
Hello lovely people Hope we all are doing well and hope this amazing writeup meets you well. I guess you love travelling and, in this post, I will be sharing with you my Journey from Bamenda to Kumba which turned out to be something completely strange, unplanned and different.
This was on Tuesday the 16th of November 2021 when there were rumors about shutting down of school so I and my Boss decided to take a trip to kumba to visit his parent. We left for the park by midday our vehicle took off.
We went from Bamenda into Bali, into Mbunjei until we arrived Batibo. Before reaching Batibo we had steeped down out of the vehicle more than 10 times to pass through the different control post. I was already feeling nervous about the journey.
We later descended to widikum and finally stopped at Kendem where the road had been blocked for more than 2 hours. We met a very long cue of vehicles lining up and waiting for the road to be open. No one knew precisely why it had been blocked.
But there were rumors that a search was being carried out. S, we only had to cross over on foot and transfer into a new vehicle so that our driver could return back to town before the roads get blocked around Bali.
We took the next vehicle and went though a number of villages in the south west some I could remember were Etoko mile 22, 27, 27, Nfaitock, Nchemba and we finally stopped at Batchou Akagbe since we were told that the roads leading to kumba had been blocked. There we had some soft drinks while waiting for the Kumba road to be opened
We rested AT that small town and located a relative’s place where we stayed until evening while waiting that the road to kumba will be opened. Finally, we spent the night at the relative’s house.
When we woke up the following day, we decided to help him with some work so we followed him to the farm to harvest and gather his cocoa pods while hoping to come back early and get a vehicle to Kumba. It was indeed an interesting time in his farm.
When we came back from the farm around midday, we got news that the road was still blocked and there wasn’t any hope of it being opened.
Still with the farm dresses and shoes on our body we were very frustrated, tired, and confused.
Our journey to Kumba was finally cancelled. We decided to return back to Bamenda since we had a number of things to do in town. We preferred coming back than spending another night there at Batchou Akagbe. We Boarded a Vehicle that was heading to Bamenda
Coming down we passed through those same villages and then finally got to Batibo At 6 pm. At Batibo we were informed that Bali was Blocked. So, we located the house of one of our Pastors and there we spent the night very tired and stressed up.
We later woke up that morning and drove down to Bali where we stood at the roadblock.
There were over 200 cars lined up waiting for the road to be opened. We now boarded a bike which carried us through some rough roads to Mbengwi then we finally got another car heading to Bamenda from Mbengwi. At about Midday, we got to town.
I went straight to the house with all the tiredness and dizziness only thanking God that I came back Alive. I was welcomed with some cold yogurt which I drank then Had much time to relax.
The Bali Road was later opened in the evening. I am glad I made my way back to town though I didn’t reach Kumba.
