Hello steemians. Hope we are doing fine. Just wish to give us some few talk on the physiological changes in adolescents

We mostly turn to confuse between puberty and adolescence or use them spontaneously.

Puberty refers to the physiological changes involved in the sexual maturation of a child as well as other body changes which may occur. Adolescence on the other hand refers to the stage from puberty to adulthood including the psychological experience of the child. Adolescence runs from 13 to 18 years of age. However, puberty determine the onset of adolescence. Adolescence may occur in a child as early as 9 years.

During adolescence, there is alot of psychological growth and adjustment in the personality due to the rapid sexual and physical growth. Adolescence face ongoing conflicts and difficulty adapting to the sudden upsurge of sexual and aggressive drives. These changes cause unrest and confusion in the adolescents inner selves and in the way they percieve the world

Puberty: puberty refers to the physiological changes that the adolecent undergoes in order to reach sexual maturity. it is best characterized as the gradual onset of macture reproductive hormonal activity, triggered by the central nouvous system, mainly the hypothalamus and pituitary gland. Most people look at puberty in three distinct stages railed the pre_pubescent,pubescent, and post pubescent. The prepubescent stage include the first evidence of sexual macturation, primary sexual characteristics and terminates at the first appearance of public hair. During this stage,reproduction is virtually impossible. During the pubescent stage the growth spurt begins to accelerate, male experience their first emission of semen usually in the form of wet dreams and menache(first menses) occur in female. The post pubescent stage is characterised by the deceleration of growth spurt, completion of both primary and sexual characteristics, and fertility is possible.

Anatomical development

This growth is centered on the extremities. For male, the lower portion of the head begins to grow because the chin lengthen and the nose grows in length and or width. Within females, a level of fat develops making the female round and soft. Whereas, the male male fat development is less pronounced but bone development of muscles and bones in the face is clearly seen.

Changes equally occur in the surface of the body. This includes body hair both pubic and armpit. The growth of pubic hair continue throughout adolescence, it spreads horizontally and then vertically untill it surrounds the genital areas. In male, the growth of facial and chest hair will be pronounced. Facial hair usually appears as a dark shadow above the lip. Then the chin, along the jaw line and then develop along the neck. Female may also find small amount of facial and chest hair.

SEXUAL MATURATION IN THE MALE ADOLESCENT

A sequencial partten has been identified which is as follows

1. the testes and scrutum and testes begin to increase in size.
2. the pubic hair begin to appear.
3. the penis begins to enlarge
4. the voice begins to deepen
5. hair begins to grow on the lips.
6. ejaculation of semen during sleep may occur

SEXUAL MACTURATION IN FEMALE

sequencial partten has been identified which is as follows.

1. non pigmented public hair appears
2. breast evolution and rounding up of hips begin.
3. the uterus, the vagina, labia and clitoris increases in size
4. pubic hair growth is more rapid and pigmented
5. breast development advances
6. menses begins
