Vividly i recalled my day of oral examination into the faculty of Nursing, i was asked this very similar question "why do you want to become a nurse?"
Shu!!! We had pre answers that were instilled in our mind. We were like, i have passion for nursing, bla bla bla but there was this statement i made that stroke the invigilators and i dont know if i understood it back then or i was just answering a question that was posted to me.
My reply to that question that day was " i love to serve humanity "
For the few years working as a nurse, this statement keeps ringing in my head and its meaning becomes clearer each day.

Nursing is a vocation and not a profession , if it was love for the job as to wear white and work in a hospital, if it was the pay package (the worst ever, especially in Cameroon) i could had quit but its the desire to serve humainity that keeps me pushing each day.

Lately in our environ, we had some cases of cholera as it was alarming in other areas such as limbe. To tackle this , vaccination was an option for prevention.
Thanks to all those that are involved and made it possible for cholera vaccine to get to us especially in times of need.
After a series of training on how the vaccination campaign could run, it was finally time to go out to the field.

The cholera oral vaccination campaign started on the 8/4/22 , we were expecting to go to each household, educate them and vaccinate them. This strategy is called door to door.
Its one of tge most effective strategies when it comes to vaccination campaign of any sort. This strategy even though very effective, but its also very stranouse.
Considering the crisis in our region, also makes this strategy very risky.

day 1

At the early hours of that day, as the vaccine arrived, while still trying to sort out and arrange the materials involved, some people and children started coming for their vaccinations.
I couldn't even sit but had to stand and was attending to them.
But after a while, we realized that the door to door strategy was the best since most people in the community arent aware about the vaccine.
So we set off into the community for that day.
At the end of each day, we could return the left over vails to the main center in mile 16.
It was a tiring activity as we can start as early as 8am and closed by 4pm.

This activity continued for 5 days . We had to visit jungles that we had never visited

somewhere in Dibanda new layout
struggling to reach every angle of the village

This struggle is to prevent cholera and the search continues. Though with all these we had some resistance as some people refused the vaccine.

At last it was Wednesday which was the end of the cholera vaccination campaign. I was satisfied we did our besr.
