Greetings fellow steemians, hope we are all doing great, its inborn in me to ask how we are doing because thats usually my second statement after greeting anyone most especially in my setting. Today am going to write about how i spend my day and how i was able to advocate for a patient.

A Nurse has a duty to act as an advocate to her Patients, this simply means that a nurse can talk or plead on behalf of her patients example, a nurse can plead for a subsidize on a patient bill, a nurse can table this issue to the director or incharge. But this power or will doesn't end ony in a hospital environment, it can be extended as seen in the scenario below.

Scenario

Early this morning at about 6am, this patient could barely walk, walked into the hospital complaining of having been sick for about a month, had been coughing for about 2 weeks now, had been taking herbal treatments to no avail, looking at this situation it was clear that they needed help. The mother pleaded that we should start attending to the boy while she goes and look for money (they came in without money), looking at the situation, i had to commence treatment.

nurse advocate, i wasn't on duty in the morning but had to return to the hospital to get pictures to send as proofs to send

An announcement was made by @chaibetrand, announcing that #steemfood community wanted to support one person from Cameroon who is sick, i wasn't sick but got to him to advocate for my patient. Thanks to him because he connected me to the right people and things went on smoothly.

He explained to me that the patient must not be a member of steemfood community or a steemian as well.
He empathized with the patient and channeled it to the main person involved. I was connected to the main person on telegram where we discussed about the patient.

I was connected to @alikoc07 who is the founder of #steemfood and after explaining the scenario and showing him the patient lab results, he empathized with the patient and offered 3 SBD. this helped in purchasing part of the patient medications.

Announcing this to them made them very happy and i could see a sign of relief on the patient face as he had been crying in the morning, 3 SBD = 8900frs, this gave them hope and believe that God os still in control.

I felt an inner peace and joy, i wasn't the one that donated but i was able to advocate for my patient, others used their phones to post pictures to get likes but i have used mine to bring a smile through this amazing platform. Thank you @alikoc07 and steemfood community. I will always remain grateful to @b-naj for introducing me to this platform.
The night shift was calm and peaceful.

A nurse has the opportunity to heal the mind, soul, heart and body of their patients, their families and others. They may forget your name, but they will never forget how you made them feel...
