Changes in Our Educational Systems

Greetings to you all my fellow steem friends. Today I sat and thought of my days back in the primary school and the changes up till date and laugh. Things have change a lot and I would like to share with you if you still do miss that.
I grew up and by then there was no nursery schools. By then a child would just reach a certain age where he can communicate most of which was in the dilate then he will be send to school.

To have had a school in a certain community was a great blessing. Many travel kilometers to attained such schools. School fees by then was just 1500frs which was just a PTA levy.
Back into those days when we got up in the morning we normally clean our compounds then eat and take some that we will eat during break. When we reach the school, there were certain fixed time for school activities that is assembly bell, short break bell, long break bell and closing bell. We usually had an assembly at every morning starting from 7:40am. After which then we would retire to our classrooms and wait for lessons.

Manual Labor in those days

The most interesting part of this educational journey was when teachers arrange their own private jobs and then assigned us by then to do the work. We use to carry water most of which to assist the elderly, carry planks as part of our evaluation on manual labor and as well we did carry blocks. All these was supervised by the school authorities and no one could complain about that. When one did something wrong in school he or she was well beaten by the head teacher. Some other pupil were always asked to hold the pupil in question and some canning was done. This was usually during morning classes especially class 7 which was an examination class. Assignments were always a target area for beating. The primary school then do or die but yet we survive and sometimes like we seat and miss those lessons because they build us up.

Looking closely to this new educational approach one can feel the difference. Nursery schools have come up, no more morning early classes, no more beatings nor more carrying of planks and blocks for the school and school fees have seriously change. Now it’s possible to have more than 6 schools within a community which by then was an impossibility. Back then you could see first school leavers at the age of 17 and it was normal but now that same age is expected to be but in the university.

If you ever enjoyed your primary school please share and comment on this post. Time have gone by and some of those moments are already fading up but still I do miss my time when I was a pupil.

Hahahahaha man has worked for teachers ooh but in those days these guys were not paid enough.

Hahaha, the worse was if you not a bright student and you are advanced in age, your manual labour is different

Haha 🤣

There is a lot that has changed in the educational system. In our days this could either be manual level or a form of punishment. Whichever one is worse, it was fun for us and we did it with joy singing songs insulting each other as well as the teachers. It was just fun and the way of life then but now everything has changed. Thank you for sharing your old good days with us.

Working punishment on a teacher's farm was giving me nuts

It's funny when one thinks of the way education has changed. However, we learned under the circumstances but children of today have all the comfort but they do not want to learn
