The Humanitarian impact of the COVID-19 pandemic?

Greetings to the steem world. Today I will be sharing to you how coronavirus is impacting humanitarian operations.

COVID-19 which is a new disease did not spread out as quickly as compared to Europe and America and was not as deadly in Africa as elsewhere. That said, the number of cases continues to grow in Africa especially now and the virus is continuing to reach new areas. The threat is still real for Africa and Africans.

It will have a devastating effect if it takes hold in areas already affected by conflict like the case of Bamenda and Buea in Cameroon and armed violence, where those threats are already overlapping with existing health and economic crises.

The past months have just shown that COVID-19 is another layer on top of devastation brought about by conflict.
The prevailing issues in Bamenda and Buea have led to the forced displacement of thousands of people. Many have fled to Douala and Yaoundé the regional capital, which is already a hotspot for COVID-19.

I find it hard to speak about the humanitarian picture in Cameroon without sounding like I'm resorting to exaggeration.
The Government and NGO’s have helped build the country's largest coronavirus treatment centre in the towns but the situation remains fragile.

People fleeing armed conflict in Cameroon are trading this life-threatening danger for the risk of COVID-19. The new treatment centre can help the community respond to the health crisis, but these families cannot return until the fighting moves away from civilian homes.

What concerns the Humanitarian most is the weak state of health care structures in areas affected by conflict which are not able to test or provide basic health care. Coronavirus is real but negligent have become the other of the day. Many are dying of light illnesses because of the fear to reach medical facilities for tasting.
