The commemorated day is a day the world or a nation sets aside to highlight exclusively the advantages and disadvantages attached to a particular event in the cause of time in history.

what do you know about the day?

World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought in my country Nigeria is a day set aside to educate people especially those of them living in desert prone areas which has common bandaries with the lake Chad basin, niger and Sahara desert all in the northern part of Nigeria on the causes or actions that leads to desert encroachment or desertification as well as the measures to take to conserve soil humidity (water) so as to maintain the biosphere condition of the area . On this day, schools, churches, companies encourage their members/staffs to participate in afforestation (replacement of dead trees and flowers) just to conserve natural reserves . The government also support by providing funding for projects like dams just to provide artificial irrigation of the farmlands .

How do you, your country or your organization celebrate the day?

The day is all about awareness creating on the dangers of desertification which is caused by mainly human actions and so the day commence with a news and after which the different ministries in government especially the the ministry of agriculture,water resources and biodiversity organize a sensitization programs where they demonstrate the hazards of desertification and things needed to avoid desert encroachment. In the side of companies, some organize road walk sharing flies with inscriptions like "stop desert before it stops you" , " Deforestation is bad ", " cut one tree and plant twenty" and that's how we mark the day .

what impact does your community gain during and after the commemoration day?

During and after the commemoration day many trees are planted and many water bodies that are drying up is looked for a way to sustain in order to maintain life in such an area.

What issues or concern will you recommend to be commemorated this week and on what date?

I would be glad if a day is set aside to discuss human trafficking . Trafficking is very bad and having a day to educate people on how traffickers appears and how they lure people with promises would help to tackle or reduce the number of victims of trafficking .
