My this publication is in the Steem Cameroon community and the topic of discussion for today is Cyber Bullying. So, let's start the discussion without any wastage of time.

My Understanding of Cyber Bullying

The word 'Cyber Bullying' is basically a combination of two separate words 'cyber' and 'bullying'. The word cyber means online, digitally, virtually, or related to the computer technology. While the word Bullying is a term that is basically used in the negative meanings. It means the feeling of harmful, the mental or physical stress or something that can tease the victim.

In simple words, we can say cyber bullying is a term that is used for the negative acts that are done with the help of technology or the internet networks, especially social media. Cyber Bullying can start from a single word that can tease or harm the victim. If we take the cyber bullying on the large scale then we can say that it is the destruction of the self respect or personal values of someone.

Cyber Bullying has been a great issue of the whole world at the present time and many countries are doing their best to eliminate this immoral issue from the society of their country. If the public of a country is involved in such type of useless and bad habitats then this would cause the destruction of the whole nation.

Actually bullying has been a great issue from the ancient times, but with the environment of the social media and the next level technologies, the cyber bullying has been increased at a very large rate. No doubt, there are billions of advantages of the social media but many of the ill-minded persons use social media for Cyber Bullying. We can say that cyber bullying is a very dark side of the next world along with the progress in technology.

Have you ever been a victim or perpetrator of cyberbullying?

In the answer of this question I would like to say 'Yes'. Actually, I had been a victim of bullying from continuously from the childhood. I had been a victim of this sharp weapon from the days of my school. Basically, I was one of the toppers of the class and many of the class fellows are my friends, while on the other hand there were also many that were jealous of my everytime position in the class. So, those bad fellows used to abuse me and try many time to bully me.

Many times, my fellows try to bully me but I don't care of there arguments towards me. They many times tries to lower my self respect before ny teachers but fortunately, they fell in their own digs. Instaed of reducing my confidence and respect before my teachers, they lost their own respect before the teachers when they were caught bullying me.

Besides the school time, I also have experienced a lot of bullying events on the social media platform like Facebook and Instagram. There are many fake users and bad persons who used to deliver their bad comments and annoying messages towards me. This has happened multiple times in the past year but fortunately my nature is totally different from them, I respond to their bully behaviour in such a way that they feel guilty by themselves.

Give an instance (if any) wherein you or someone you know felt bullied in cyberspace, and what spiked such a feeling. (It could be throughout any social platform)

As I have explained earlier that I have been a victim of cyber bullying many times in my far past as well as the recent past. There are many incidents that can explain my these experiences. Many of these incidents are of the school time while there are also some incidents that happened with me in the recent years and I felt bullied while observing the bully behaviour of different people on the social media platforms. Two of the incidents are discussed below.

It was the time back to the school days (about 5-6 years ago), when some of my class fellows were bully to me. Actually I was the topper of the class 8. When we started our session of class 9, there were many students that left our section and went to the other sections and many students from those sections came to join our section in the 9th class. Many of them were jealous of my 2nd position in the whole campus.

One day, I received a message from an unknown number on my WhatsApp. That unknown identity told me he would harm me if I would work hard by the next time and would do good in the next test session, I became very worried on that occasion and shocked as well. But, fortunately, I was able to handle this situation and replied him that Ok I will not do hard again but you can never beat me if you will not work more harder.

Another incident that I faced in the September of the last year. I has been in contact with one girl from Dubai. Actually, she contacted me as she needed some articles written from me. We started our contact in order to deal with each other and I had to give her the article in the return form, I done my duty with the great interest and hard work and she was also impressed by the quality of work.

One day, she asked me to send her my picture. I sent him the picture thinking that he could easily get my picture from Facebook so there is nothing like privacy for me to show her my picture. On seeing the picture, she again asked me about my religion, when I replied her that I am muslim then she used a few abusive words that shocked me a lot and I replied to her 'You are showing the ethics that you have learnt from your parent'. Then I blocked her at once. So, these are some bully related incidents that I have faced so far.

How did this encounter affect this said person?

As I have already explained to you that I am a man of such a nature that I am able to reply the bully behaviour of someone with such words that the attacker could feel guilty by himself. From the above incidents, it is clear that I shocked and worried at once but then I controlled my nerves and absorb my anger arguments.

After absorbing the hot words on the bulky behaviours, I replied to the bully persons in a very polite and proper manner that he/she will never repeat with someone other than me again. It is always recommended to reply the bully behaviours of persons with some wisdom and polite words that the attacker could feel ashamed by himself.

In the first incident, I became very worried and felt horified at once. But then I was able to realise the sensitivity of the situation that my single hot word can change the argumentation in a big quarrel. While in the second incident, I replied the girl in such a way that she will never talk to anyone in that manner again, especially on the believes and religion of someone.

How safe do you feel on Steemit? And have you ever felt bullied at any point in time? (on Steemit)

If we relate the Steemit social media with the other social media platforms on the basis of bully activities, I would like to say that Steemit is much more better than all the other social media platforms because here, the users feel very safe and sound and if they are doing there duties in a well manner, then they will never experince such bad circumstances in the while journey.

I am very much thankful to the Steemit platform for providing us such a circumstance where we can grow friendly and peacefully. We can work together for the betterment of the platform and also we can get rewards of our hard work and zeal towards the platform. I think there are minor cases of bullying on the Steemit platform. Again thanks to this amazing decentralized ecosystem.

What lessons have you learned from such a scenario? And what advice can you give your audience?

As I have experienced the bully circumstances many times in my life, so I have learnt so many lessons from that incidents. Some of the recommendation for my all Steemian friends are given below in the form of points.

• If you experience any bully argument from someone, then first of all, Avoid Quick Reaction.

• Never use the same abusive language or the hot words in the reply of a bully behaviour.

• Be sure to control your nerves and absorb the anger on receiving a bad argument from someone.

• Reply to him/her in such a way that he could felt guilty by him/her self.

• Always be polite and never be aggressive while receiving a bully comment from someone.

Cyber Bullying is one of the most important issues that the whole world is facing these days. It is a negative factor that can impact the whole nation, if the people of that nation are continuously undergoing these bad habits. Cyber bullying is actually the acts to reduce the respect or dignity of someone.

If you have experienced any bully argument or comment then never reply to that bad comment in the same way. Try to be polite and calm. Reply to that argument in a very wise and polite manner so that the attacker could feel guilty by himself.
