So today, i decided not to wait for the month to end before doing this power-up... For me, its now Powerup as you go because one may be temped otherwise.

I had a zero steem balance, and used the SBD i earned to purchase steem
AFTER POWERUP
After purchasing steem, i immediately powered up my account to meet up with my commitment to club 100
