On Wednesday, August 28th, The Greens' team joined forces with Bright Light Projects and ASDEPCO to clear over 1,000 plastic bottles clogging the Mulang Wetland River. This wetland, crucial for the city's ecological balance, has been inundated with plastic waste, with an estimated one million bottles clogging the area. The accumulation of plastic has caused severe flooding, created breeding grounds for pathogens, and degraded the wetland, threatening the livelihood of surrounding communities.

For more than two hours, our 15-person team tirelessly collected and packed the bottles into large plastic wrappings and nets. Once the bottle drive was completed, The Greens' team transported some of the collected plastic bottles to our recycling site.

At the site, Rudolf provided training to our interns on upcycling plastic bottles into UPB (Upcycled Plastic Bottle) Tree Nursery Pots. After an hour of hands-on work, the team successfully produced over 122 tree nursery pots. These pots will be used at The Greens' nursery to grow trees.

Looking ahead, The Greens are excited to announce that we will be signing a partnership with Bright Light Project. This collaboration aims to further address the plastic pollution crisis and other environmental challenges in Bamenda.

Your efforts to rid the earth of plastics is gradually gaining grounds, sir I'd like to join this campaign if you'd permit, and I'd also like to learn some basic skills of recycling plastics to make some income.
