The day 30th July, 2024 shall always remain a day I would not forget in a hurry. It is a day set aside to commemorate World Day against Trafficking in Persons. The testimony this day holds is so massive, I recall clearly that of a mother who seized the occasion to share a story of how she nearly lost her female kid to the cruel hands of traffickers, but for the timely intervention of a neighbour who raised alarm upon noticing the suspicious activity of the traffickers.

What is human trafficking?

Human trafficking is an inhuman act of acquiring, transporting, keeping in custody, or receiving people (usually kids and young girls) with the aim of exploiting or wrongly using them (often without their full consent) for sexual purposes, labour, or other purposes.

It involves the act of deception, coercion, or force. It is an unconstitutional and illegal act that tramples on the very foundation of fundamental human rights.

Who are the traffickers?

These are "tools for the devil." Whether individuals or groups that are responsible for the smooth flow of the trafficking process. They include the recruiters, transporters, controllers, and beneficiaries. They are truly vicious people.

My Mascot

My mascot is a solemn call for us citizens to be very watchful and take responsibility like an eagle.

World Day against Trafficking in Persons

My country, Nigeria, commemorated the World Day against Trafficking in Persons. The theme of this year's celebration was Leave No Child Behind in the Fight Against Human Trafficking." Some of the agents behind this year's advocacy for the fight against human trafficking include the Nigerian United Nations, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, (NAPTIP), civil societies, the mass media, and even concerned individuals.

Sensitisation, educational programs, news, and past events were shared. Preventive measures and the national anti trafficking agency hotline were also given during this day. This brought a whole lot of knowledge.

Dear readers, like my mascot, let's be watchful and careful. Leave no opportunity for these inhumane fellows to get to you or your family or friends. We all have a responsibility, let's take charge.

I strongly commend your content for acknowledging and bringing back to awareness about humans trafficking.

Definitely it is of best interest to defend and respect each human rights, which trafficking violate.
Most people as you have said take away children and women without prompt concerns just to Mishandle, harass and violate their rights.

so Nigeria fixing this day to bring about solidarity against any form of human trafficking is appreciated 👍

I love reading this and will love reading more

Thank you so much @basil20 for your strong words of encouragement.
