What do I know about the day? |

International day of peace is culled from the fact that peace is essential for a healthy nation. As we can trace back, we have incidents that the human race no longer lived in harmony because of the war and fights. This frequent war made the human race to be in jeopardy because of casual killings. There were records of world wars which shook the planet Earth. These situations affected a lot of lives and properties. This continued until the United Nations intervene on 21st of September, 1981. This single act dissolved the crisis and brought in a rare gem called peace.

The mascot is a drawing of a dove with a branch of olive in its beak. Anytime peace is rhymed with animal, dove do emerge first. They are the bird of the shy who take peace as their lifestyle. Olive is a plant that represents a new beginning. Globally, the combination of a dove and branch of olive signifies peace.

International day of peace is a great day which brings great changes to the contemporary society. Here are how it operate
- Act as a white flag: As we see in movies or real life, a white flag is raised when a team is surrendering or calling for peace in a war. With that, the opposing team will cease fire and listen to what the other team has to say. This is the major effect of International day of peace because it waves away any aurora of war in the atmosphere. Any pending war from individual or groups is fading out prior to this day.
- Essence of peace: The fact about peace is that not everyone understands its true essence. Some people wish for war so that they can weigh the balance. International day of peace helps to correct that mentality. If war break out, the lives and properties which are lost in the process can never be recovered. That’s the true essence of the word “peace”.
Who are the active promoter, and my impact to this day |

The active promoter of the day remains the United Nations. Since they initialized the process, they admonished different countries of the world to observe it which they do. What I'd love to do is to create awareness about the essence of peace in a society. With this, people will choose rightly between peace or war.
