The African Nations Cup also known as AFCON
Is a prestigious football competition to show case the tallents of Africa.
The competition started in the 1950s due to the attacking and the entertaining styl of play it actracted alot of medias, journalists and football scouts all around the world. That was under the leadership of the first CAF president Ydnekachew Tessema.
Alot of proffesionalism came in 1980 with coporate sponsoship allowed in 1986.
Samuel E'too of Cameroon π¨π² is the highest goal scorer in the history of the Afcon with 18 goals .
Lauren Pooko from Ivory coast follows with 14 goals.
Rashidi Yekini from Nigerian 3rd with 13 goals .

The just ended Afcon in Cameroon was won by Senegal beating Egypt on penalties shoot-out after a 120 minutes goalless match to lift their first ever nations cup title after been runners up in 2019.
The next Afrcan nations cup is scheduled for Cote D'ivoir 2023.
