Markets are packed with kite aficionados and festival goers buying supplies days before the festivities.It commemorates the transition from winter to summer, as as well as the upcoming winter crop harvest. It is said that the kite was invented in China but it became famous in India. There are many events in many places around the world where people gather and fly kites.
