SNS에 엉덩이 흔드는 영상이 범람하던 시절에…
핸드폰 앞에서 기상천외한 몸짓을 하는 틱톡커들을 보며
알 수 없는 두려움이 몰려왔다.
"나도 저렇게 잘 흔들 수 있을까?"
전혀 볼일 없는 관객들에게 이런 혼비백산한 스토리텔링 능력으로
관종 되고 싶지 않지 않았다.🤷‍♂️

하지만 진정한 의미 있는 몸짓은,
내 깊은 내면에서 솟구치는 스토리가 세상 밖으로 던져졌을 때
저절로 들썩여지는 나의 엉덩이다.

때는 2021년 5월 즈음부터였다.
자기표현 욕구가 충만한 몇몇 사람들과의 신기한 여정이 시작되었다.
우리는 너무나도 다른 사람들이지만
각자 자신이 선택한 것에 대한 의구심을 겪고 있었고
여행을 통해 스스로 정해 놓은 경계를 넘어 가슴이 뛰는 삶을 선택하려는 공통점이 있었다.
왜냐하면 결국 인간에게 죽음은 어차피 다가올 운명이라 스스로에게 물어본다.
'살아있음'은 우리에게 무엇일까? 그리고 우리는 언제 살아있다고 느끼는가?
그걸 이미 다 알고 느끼며 살고 계신다면 그런 당신이
너무 부러워서 지구 끝까지 쫓아갈 것 같으니 그만 생각해야겠다.

나는 지금껏 시도해 보지 못한 방식으로 이런 이야기를 영상으로 만들어봤다.

There was a time when internet was flooded with videos of people twerking…
The pinnacle of humanity…

By watching TikTokers making anomalistic gestures in front of their cellphones,
the fear of self-doubt came over me.
"Will I be able to thrust my hip like that too?"
I dreamed of getting attention from people I don't even know with my monumental storytelling skills…🤷‍♂️

But the truly meaningful gesture is;
my butt cheeks that go sideways on their own
when the story from deep within spirals out to the world.

It all started around May of 2021.
A strange journey began with some very expressive people.
Each of them was going through their doubts about the choices they made.

But one thing they all had in common is a strong desire to feel alive because,

at the end of the day:
"Everybody dies, but not everybody lives."

What does it mean to feel alive?
Well, if we knew the answer to that, then we'd all be high as a kite as if there was no tomorrow.

This is the story about a '"moment" of taking that step despite having doubt. And I have composed this travel video in a way I had never tried before.
