The west is divided on the Israeli-Palestinian crisis. Having done all the heavy lifting of making Judeo-Christianity the dominant world view in the last two centuries, they're now confronted with the much ground lost to post modernism.
One of the post modernist thought liberally introduced into the conversation is the Therapy Culture. This is the emotional correctness of how to perceive social-political issues. This enlightened shift towards emotions incites people to feel powerless and ill. Terms like people 'at risk', 'scarred for life' or 'emotional damage' evoke a unique sense of powerlessness are often used to force policy.
This is how netizens, celebrities and the liberal media have been rallied through the therapeutic culture to support Palestine even as certain key geopolitical leaders chose to stand with Israel. A good example being Trevor Noah who offered on the topic, "Personally, I cannot watch that footage and hear those numbers and see a fair fight."
