My study progam was in English language, so German was not a prerequisite. In any case, depending on your discipline/area of focus, the German language may not be a barrier to your success in Germany.

I currently work with an international company, so English is the major language requirement; German is, of course, always a plus for anyone, so I took some time to learn the language and can speak it comfortably :)
