A 74-year-old man who allegedly brought a gun to the Kenosha protests has been arrested, despite claiming he was there to ‘help’ the police.
‘I'm here to help. What am I doing wrong?’ he said, as police handcuffed him on Thursday night. ‘Are you going to arrest me for helping you?’
The man’s confusion is probably understandable, given the videos circulating of Kenosha cops giving vigilantes water and saying how they ‘appreciate’ what they’re doing.
One of those vigilantes was Kyle Rittenhouse, 17, who’s been charged with two counts of murder after allegedly shooting and killing two people on Tuesday.
Kenosha has seen five nights of protests and violence after an unarmed black man, 29-year-old Jacob Blake, was shot seven times in the back at point-blank range by police officer Rusten Sheskey.
Blake remains in hospital, where, according to his father, he is paralyzed from the waist down and handcuffed to his bed.
