"BUT THE PRINCE OF THE KINGDOM OF PERSIA WITHSTOOD ME TWENTY-ONE DAYS; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia."
Daniel 10:13 (NKJV)

Comment: This Scripture buttresses what is said in Ephesians 2:2 " . . . THE PRINCE OF THE POWER OF THE AIR, THE SPIRIT WHO NOW WORKS IN THE SONS OF DISOBEDIENCE."
The prince of the kingdom of Persia that waylaid Angel Gabriel who was coming to Daniel with answers to his prayers, is the same Satan.
This prince of the power of the air, according to Ephesians 2:2, is a first in rank or power, a chief magistrate, prince, or ruler in the air which could be referred to as Satan himself or one of his lieutenants. This spirit works in the lives of the unbelievers and the believers who are carnal or fleshly. The power of the air influences people to disobey God—live contrary to God's Word.
Gabriel was withstood for twenty-one days, which shows us what the believers are dealing with when they are praying.
The spiritual world or realm is real and It is the realm that controls the physical realm. Your steadfast stand in God's Word and prayer makes you invincible for the enemy, the opposition.
A weakened prayer that has no fire of the Holy Spirit can easily be hindered, and the answer to the prayer of a believer who is not persistent can be easily hijacked (Luke 11:5-10). Answers to Daniel's prayer could have been hijacked and completely hindered If he was not persistent in prayer (Daniel 10:2,3).

A number of believers could not wait long enough for the answers to their prayers. If Daniel was not persistent or importuned in prayer, heaven would not have not known that the Angel sent with the answers to his prayers is being withheld by the prince of Persia—the prince of the power of the air over the nation of Persia.
It was Daniel's persistence or importunity that made God sent Angel Michael for the rescue of the Angel sent—Gabriel.
For answers to your prayers not to be lost or hijacked, be persistent in your prayers (Luke 11:5-10; 18:1-8).
Peace.
