for me with most tech is will it last long enough to get my monies worth out of it. as in can i do a year/two of projects so it pays for itself in say three months, otherwise i'm just collecting gadgets to put in landfill which then destroys the planet. so i try and go with brand names i've trusted for a good decade as long as the build quality is there and they have a sustainability part of their business plan too -- i'm looking at like some led rope lights at the moment for off grid but i guess they would be great for photos and video too.
