I keep thinking about this especially for the UK SMB (small and medium sized businesses) who are bending over backwards to support their staff by furloughing them wages until they can claim back a percentage back from the government, it’s hard to say how long any company can do that for or how many will go to the wall during this period but it’s certainly already started to change/effect economies.
That’s why the geeky nerds are so buzzed about crypto and bitcoin, they see it as hard money, that it has a fixed amount and only ever will do so therefore when you have something that’s scarce then that is something that can demand a price — for instance if you have one bitcoin, you are one in 21 million to ever own one, that price could rock and be an incredible store of value.
Anyway, you know that shit.
So yeah, universal basic income, it seems that Spain is already pushing fast to get their UBI out there and permanently not just for the pandemic which really signals to me massive changes to the way the world of money will operate after we come out of lockdown.
Imagine for instance you getting 1000 euros a month, your rent and food paid, all the things you usually would spend hours per day working to pay for, what if that was just straight covered? — sure you could spend each and every day doing nothing and just wait for the money to come in, but would you?
I don’t think so.
I think lots of people would flip that money into more money, start a business or put together a project of their dreams, I think we would have more active citizens in society doing things for the first time they have always wanted to do instead of just being in the dretches of the rat race of trying to make ‘ends’ meet — it’s certainly made me question what those are.
Digital Assets are a major component of the next world we are cascading into, being a digital owner of a piece of art, a moment in time, paid for with crypto value, recorded on a chain that you are owner of that moment in time, paid at a certain time with mathematical accuracy.
That’s way better than the bullshit centralised systems that don’t fucking work properly anyway because script kiddies are pissed you pulled down their community centre they used to fuck around outside of.
Personally, the notion of being my own boss of my own personal financial destiny really appeals to me. Ubi from a perspective of removing anxiety and stress and allowing a little bit of creative mental freedom and the ability for me as a human being to be more proactive and compassionate to my fellow man that I don’t cascade around worrying about how the fuck I’m gonna put food on the table and a roof over my head!
Is that selfish? Should it be point scored? Should it be connected to a blockchain app that calculates the work that I’ve done in the local community and gives me a credit scoring aka black mirror style? I don’t fucking know I’m just blasting words out on coffee and they seem to resonate with me so I’m hoping they do with you too.
It’s never been a better time to be vocal and buidl shit.
