silversmithing splitting ring shank, making bezel cupsteemCreated with Sketch.

in the beginning here you can see nicoli soldering the bezel together, he uses a hard solder here to withstand re-heating, then nicoli shapes the bezel to the stone, flips it over to make sure both sides are equal.
then carefully lays it onto the plate for soldering, fluxing the entire plate, then a slow rotation on the flame to heat the entire piece equally, setting the solder, quenching,.. then cutting off the edges prepping for file work, some people prefer to do this on a table for a more solid base to file, but nicoli likes to do it by hand, then he files off the top to have a nice flat top against the stone.
next he cuts a half round in half for a split shank on the ring, then he bends, and solders to the bezel cup after shaping it to size on the ring mandrel, then it has to be precise for the last solder.

this does not show the end soldering of the ring shank to the bezel cup, it is in my hard drive somewhere, please be gentle in my ass reaming, i have been doing youtube.com/thedesertartist for 13 years, and over 1000 videos, and i also am horrible at videos,.. thanks for checking out my youtube channel. much love, i am trying,.. really i am...
