Hello lovely people,

First of all, a very Happy Independence Day to all us Indians. It's a very important day for all of us. Independence day comes as a reminder that before anything else we all are Indians first. Everyone fought together for a common good. So today I remember the sacrifice of our freedom fighters and respect the hard-earned freedom, and I am very grateful to the soldiers who fight on the border to keep us safe. I am proud to be an Indian.

I woke up at 7.30 a.m as my maid was at the door ringing my doorbell continuously. Her regular time is 8.30 a.m, but she came early today as she had to go somewhere. So I had no other option but to get up and open the door. I was doing for my morning routine while she was doing her job.

I switched on the TV as today was Independence Day and I didn't want to miss on the flag hoisting and our PM's speech.

One thing which I really like in his speech was his emphasis on 'Vocal for local'. As COVID is sparing no one, so it cast a shadow on Independence day celebrations as well, this time it was a small event, there were no school kids and everything was done keeping social distancing in mind.

I tied the Indian flag in my balcony which I bought the day before. It was a very proud feeling to see the flag waving with the air in my balcony.

It was 9.0 clock I prepared Sambhar and dosa. For dosa, I used ready to make 'ID' batter. In Bangalore, the readymade batter is easily available.

Today I had some guests over, they came around 11 am. I prepared Bhelpuri (Puffed rice chat) and overloaded baked Nachos and served with some cookies and coca-cola. We watched TV and chatted a lot. They are from Bihar so they were telling about their food, festivals, and other cultural activities. Then we had lunch. I ordered veg Biryani and Paneer tikka using Zomato app from restaurant 'Paradise Biryani'. Paradise Biryani is a famous restaurant chain of Hyderabadi biryani. We had ice cream in the desert.

We all went down for a small walk, after coming back I prepared tea for everyone which we had with Samosa. They left around 6.30 pm. I made a call to my mom and my sisters, the duration of call with my family is usually longer.

After that, I prepared Khichdi in dinner as I was already full and khichdi which is made of moong dal and rice is always a healthy option for the tummy, I gave my khichdi a pure ghee ka Tadka, which makes it very tasty. I had it with Pickle and curd.

Happy Independence day my friend. You did great job on hanging our flag in your balcony.

Your kichidi looking so colourful and delicious. I love kichidi awaits because those are rich of carbohydrates.

It indeed is. Thanks for stopping by my diary post.

An interesting effect of COVID19 is that it is giving people time to think about the nature of independence. There is a pandemic that has restricted our movements.

Most people seem to grasp the severity of the disease and are voluntarily restricting their activities. Some countries are using the pandemic to impose radical social controls.

While COVID19 might be restricting communal celebrations of independence, perhaps it is good that 2020 has people focused on a personal contemplation of the nature of liberty.

Yes, everything comes with its pros and cons, so has COVID.
Thank you for stopping by.
