Work from home / Work from anywhere

I have never been a person who complains about work. I have always enjoyed long hours and impromptu breaks. My office was close to my place. So even when I spent close to 12-14 hours there, it did not feel like i was missing out on anything. I hear people complain about work-life balance etc. But I belong to a category which doesn't necessarily understand the term. So when work from home started, many colleagues of mine thought that I'd really miss office. I must have thought that too. But I was pleasantly surprised to see myself enjoying my new work regime and it did not feel like much had changed. Soon it was a year since I started working from home. As I thought to myself about how everything changed and yet the "work" part never did, I had to find out if the environment really doesn't matter to me as much as I thought it would. So I decided to take a trip and work from there to test out myself.

For this, I needed good internet connection. I could travel to cities but I did not want to encounter too much crowd and expose myself to covid. That's why I decided to go to a remote place but a lavish hotel so that the electricity, internet issues don't arise. I also did not want to travel too far away from home so that I don't waste a lot of time if things don't workout. So satisfying all these conditions was the Tamara Resort just over 200 kms from my place. So a good 3-4 hours of travel was all that was needed. So I packed all of my "Work gear" and left for this resort on Saturday to just explore the surroundings and do a trial run before I start my actual work. Things worked perfectly. Though the internet speed was much lesser(40-60 Mbps) than what I get at home (A whooping 180-200 Mbps), I did not face any latencies when I connected to my work machine in office. So I was sorted. Plus the nature gave me an extra push to just stay over for the entire week.

As the week passed, in my free time I went on a trek to the nearest hill top, watched a few sunrises, all the sunsets, played a lot of board games and Uno! Spent long hours in the jacuzzi, wandering around the resort, read a book, ate a lot. End result - I added on some kilos of fat, got minor bruises on my legs and hands, took a week to complete 2 days of work but thoroughly enjoyed my stay and don't regret any bit of it. Leaving a few pictures below from the stay.

I know what you are talking about. Anyone who has experienced first-hand how pleasant work is when you work where you want to be will be unwilling to let it go.

Could not have put it better myself. I am glad you resonate with the same thought @dirkzett

Wow nice place to work from. Enjoy nature beauty and stay safe.
