Hello Steemfamily!
Praying for everyone's good health and hoping all of you are fine.
So let's begin with my day.
I woke up today at 9:30 a.m. Then I followed my usual routine like brushed my teeth and all. Today I started doing Yoga. Since it was my first day so I did it only for 20 minutes. Then I went to the kitchen to make tea. Had tea with my sister. After that we cooked breakfast for us. Today we made puri and allo dum for ourself.
Then I wasn't feeling like doing anything today. So I took one of my novel which I have started reading few months ago but haven't completed. So I thought of finishing it off.
The novel name is THE MINISTRY OF UTMOST HAPPINESS by booker prize winning author Arundhati Roy. It was published in 2017.
The Book
About the Book:-
The story is about two main characters during time period of partition - Anjum( a muslim transgender) who comes out with her actual identity in front of everyone only to find herself redefined with new tragedies in her life and the other character is Tilo, a trained architect who journeys to the Kashmir region to reignite her on-and-off-again love affair with Musa, a freedom fighter.
It begins with Anjum, who is born intersex and named Aftab, is initially raised as a boy. Once Aftab enters adolescence, however, he rejects this male identity and joins the Khwabgah, or “House of Dreams”—a local community of transgenders—taking the name Anjum. Anjum spends more than three decades in the Khwabgah, earning her living as an entertainer and a sex worker. And from here the journey of Anjum begins.
Some lines from the book
While the next character Tilo—the illegitimate daughter of a well-to-do Syrian Indian woman who “adopted” Tilo several months after the child was actually born. Tilo grows up to attend architectural school in Delhi, which is where she meets three men who fall in love with her. And from there here journey begins in the novel.
Favourite lines
I liked this novel personally very much. There are few lines in this book which are my favourite. The book is a rollercoaster ride of emotions, laughter, sadness, patience, joy, etc.
Best lines (back of the book)
I finished this book by evening. Then cooked dinner, made khichdi basically. Had my dinner then sat to write down my today's daily diary post.
Hope you like the post. If you will read the novel do let me know how it was.
Thank you!!
Yeah these lines shows us how divided we are. Not only in castes, sub categories, and then many other things.
These are very great lines and reflect the true nature of our society.
Great diary from your side.
