Poloniex: Crypto Asset Exchange, Lets talk about its security.

In this post, let's go through the security related features of the Poloniex. Security is one of the major concerns when we are talking about the crypto exchange or in the process to select the best exchange. We always want to make sure the level of security of the exchange should be great as we want to protect our investment and hard earned money from hackers. What happens if you log in from a different IP address?

We usually access our online accounts on a web browser from home and office on personal computers or mobile. Poloniex will send an OTP to the registered email address and after successful login, It sends an email to notify the user that the account has been logged in from a new IP address. This feature would really help a user to take quick action if somebody steals the Poloniex account login information and logs in from a new IP address within the same or different country.

Poloniex has designed this process to verify your identity and protect you from identity theft. This would help the Poloniex support team to recover your account if stolen.

It gives an option to verify driver license using a photo on the Poloniex web page and also we can verify on a mobile phone by scanning QR code. After scanning the QR code, It will open a browser on mobile, and then we need to login to proceed with the steps to upload the document.

after that, we could upload the document or by clicking the picture using the camera. It's easy.

TWO-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION (2FA)

Poloniex Site Certificate

The site certificate is issued by DigiCert SHA2 Extended Validation Server CA and till 26/07/2021. These certificates are usually renewed every year or two years.

The connection to this Poloniex site is encrypted and authenticated using TLS 1.3, X25519, and AES_128_GCM.

Withdrawal Processing Security: Email Confirmation Required

If you would like to withdraw your crypto to any other address or for Fiat, Poloniex will send an email to the registered email account of the user to confirm or cancel the withdrawal. On click of the hyperlink sent on email, it redirects the user to the Poloniex web page on the browser and shows the option to Cancel Withdrawal and Send Funds User can select any of the options as per the requirement. So we could say that withdrawal is a 3 steps process.

• Initiate withdrawal from Poloniex
• Login to registered email and click on the withdrawal link sent by Poloniex.
• It will redirect the user to the Poloniex web page, user could cancel or confirm the withdrawal.

These features really make this exchange very secure and even if the user account gets compromised or stolen, they would need the user's registered email account as well to perform withdrawal operation.
