Today, I would nominate the Best Contributor and the Best Community in Steem Blockchain(for the year 2020). It's a really difficult call, many are working to their full potential for the overall success of Steem Blockchain.
However, as I can nominate only one from each category, I have to select one of them and my selection is backed by my conviction and from my understanding, engagement over the last one year.
Best Contributor to the Community
Steem Blockchain had a roller-coaster ride in 2020, it has seen both worst and the best time in 2020, but I would like to credit all those who stand their ground and stand by Steem Blockchain during March-April.
I am not trying to get into what was right or wrong, rather it is more about what you believe and how you react when the rally was hard, where the sentiments were being traded in the worst possible way.
I have been a part of this ecosystem since 2018 and to be honest, I have been a silent reader of this chain.
The most difficult thing for a Newcomer is to get familiar with the nomenclature of Blockchain technology and most importantly the security features(how to keep your decentralized account safe & accessible).
For the first time, if anything that has amazed me, eased me, it is none other than the Newcomers community. I can still recollect those days when I was feeling like an orphan as a Newcomer in this ecosystem, I had no idea of the ABC of such an ecosystem. But today those who join this ecosystem can always feel assured and steered to a smooth start.
So the coordinator(@cryptokannon) of the program deserves unlimited praise. We can't quantify everything on-chain, just look at her continuous efforts, keeping a team of greeters intact, motivating them all, and doing all the background works; not an easy job.
At times this sort of role drives monotony, frustration, which could fizzle out the whole team. She keeps motivating all, and most importantly she has given a new face and a new identity to this ecosystem even when Newcomers make a glaring mistake or a repeated mistake, her approach has been so polite, so caring; an apt co-ordinator.
Handling a Newcomer is an art, skill and @cryptokannon possesses that skill. On top of that, she is the most affable lady in Steem Blockchain in my assessment. She is the best contributor to the community. She is my captain!
Best Community
In many ways, we can define a Best Community. It could be based on what is the activity and engagement level, how good the participation is in a contest, and how good the contest in itself is. How organized it is.
But in a tokenized ecosystem we need to work on the sustainability of a community too. What I mean is that the economy and self-reliance are paramount for a community to serve the objectives in the long run.
It is true that Steemit Team is trying to help new communities to grow. But if a community does not have a road map to build an economy of its own, it could end up in a dismal show at some point. We can not expect Steemit Team to support a community eternally. That is not in line with the essence of decentralized communities either.
We should take Steemit Team and the associated accounts as the regent account which is helping us to build communities during the 1000 days, the objective should be to build a self-reliant community at the end of 1000 days.
So today I would nominate Best of India as the best community. Not because I am one of the MODs, but definitely for what it envisioned. From day one, the BOI community has proactively worked on self-sustainability. To foster that objective the MODs reach a consensus to contribute 10% of the Author Rewards. Even more so the BOI community has a definite plan to bring investment to this ecosystem, they are reaching out to the related institutions/individuals to bring donations and investment.
BOI is also trying to build a few necessary tools(development features) for this ecosystem, BOI is a castle of visioners, a balanced mix of curators, marketers, techies and it has a setup in place, which is working off-chain to bring investment. All the donations and investments will find their way to STEEM POWER, which will further be utilized to support the community members.
Thank you.

I second your nomination. I believe @cryptokannon deserves the 2020 award as the best contributor on steem for her incredible efforts towards supporting the newcomers on steemit.

Yes, indeed. The newcomers' program is now the gateway of Steem Blockchain. The Newcomers joining this ecosystem are steered to a smooth start with better understanding and they earn while they learn. Kannon leads the charge and she has been handling and managing it in a professional way.
Thank you.

Every payout I see is in TRX when I click on it. Are Steem, Steem dollars and Steem Power still given out?
