First of all, I would like to thank @bestofindia and all the Indian country representatives, @sapwood, @rishabhkr99946, and @neerajkr03 for hosting such an amazing contest. Lastly, I would also like to thank the steemit team, @steemcurator02 for sponsoring the prizes for this contest.

Just a year ago, I was a student myself and never had a lot of pocket money. So, I had to search for such deals that would make my life a whole lot easier. This brings back a whole lot of memories.

10 Dollars in INR.PNG
Current price of a $10

I am from Bangalore, Karnataka in India. Currently, $10 is worth INR 730 over here. So, that is going to be my budget to go through an entire day worth of food expenses.

Before I get into my current cheap thrill, Let me just share with you guys how I went by for about 3-4 months in 2019 buying a lot of food items while paying the very minimal price.

Buying cakes, yogurt, dry fruits for less than INR 10($0.14):

If I was a Youtuber, this heading would probably scream clickbait to you guys. But I do have screenshots of me ordering items without having to pay anything at all!.

So, what was my secret to ordering food for free in 2019? I was using an app called Magicpin from the start of 2017. This is an app that gives you cash back in the form of in-app credits for every bill that you upload on the app.

These credits can then be used to buy gift cards from numerous online stores. They also offer a partial discount on buying restaurant discount coupons/bill payment.

The Magicpin offer that offered INR.99 discount on all orders

Towards the end of 2018 and the beginning of 2019, Magicpin had this amazing offer where they were offering INR. 99 worth of discount for orders placed on Eat.fit. This is one deal that I have used to the fullest.

The INR. 99 discount coupon was already offered at a discounted rate of 35 Magicpin points. So, I used to pay just 35 points and get INR. 99 discount on Eat.fit.

Here is one of my orders where I combined multiple discounts to get all this for free

During this time, Eat.fit was also pretty new and they were offering free delivery on all orders as well. This when combined with my INR. 99 discount coupon meant that I could eat anything on Eat.fit worth INR 99 and not pay a single rupee.

My order spree on Eat.fit

I have mainly ordered yogurt and dry fruits from Eat.fit. Normally, this would cost you about INR. 150-200 for the quantity that I ordered every day. However, thanks to my discount coupon, I used to pay at the max, INR 1.

I’m pretty sure, Eat.fit caught onto my trick within a few months and ever since added a minimum order amount for the coupon on Magicpin.

While this was in the past, things have changed a lot now. However, Magic pin is still good enough to make my entire day a whole lot merrier. Let us now have a look at how I would spend using Magicpin if there was no pandemic.

Cheap thrills with Magicpin in December 2020:

Now the offers on Magicpin are not as great as they once were. However, it is still good enough to make my day a whole lot better in under $10.

Idli on Eat.fit that costs just INR.128

I would start my day after my morning walk with Cooper. For my breakfast, I would order Idli-Sambhar with Podi Masala on Eat.Fit. After including all delivery and packaging charges, this would come up to INR 128($1.75). The idli-Sambhar that Eat.fit makes is very nutritious and contains vegetables. Since nearby hotels don’t serve such nutritious food for breakfast, I wouldn’t mind paying $1.75 for my breakfast.

For my lunch, I would order food again. This time I would be ordering food using the Magicpin app. The restaurant that I would be ordering from is called Wow Momos. I have tried their Kormangala branch previously and can say that they cook some of the best Momos in town.

![Screenshot_2020-12-30-09-14-56-449_com.magicpin.local.jpg]() By ordering on Magicpin, I get a 30% discount on Wow Momos

30% discount on total bill

The best Momo’s over here is their Chicken with cheese fried momos. This costs about INR 159($2.17) in retail. However, I will be ordering it on Magicpin. Thus, bringing down the cost by 30%. So, my total amount due is just INR 111($1.51). Trust me this meal is pretty stomach filling.

Travel estimate on bounce
For my snacks, I would need to leave my house and go and pick up food from a restaurant called Cake of the day. This is a small place about 2 km away from my house. To commute to this place, I would book a bounce ride. This currently costs INR 33($0.45) approximately.

Amazon Pay bounce offer

But I have an ace up my sleeve. Currently, if I pay using Amazon pay, I will get 100% cashback up to INR25 on 3 of my rides. After applying for this offer, my commute would reduce to INR 16(($0.22) for two way commute.

Combo offer at the restaurant

There is an offer on Magic pin that gives me 1 cake slice, 1 Pizza, 1 sandwich, and also 1 Pineapple Pastry for just INR 89($1.21). So, this is more than enough for me. This is a too tummy filling snack. I wouldn’t complain as I am getting all this for such a cheap price.

After getting back home, I would empty my snacks while watching some movie on Netflix or Amazon. I would also play with Cooper for some time in the evening. Then for my dinner at night, I would order from this nice place called Rajkumar special biriyani.

I have previously eaten at this place and the Chicken biriyani that they make is simply at a whole new level. One of my top 20 Biriyani places.

Dinner combo-deal on Magicpin

Luckily for me, Magic pin has a combo-deal that gives me Biriyani, Kabab, fry, and a cool drink for just INT 169($2.31). The best part is that they also deliver the food right to my doorstep.

The bones that are leftover from my dinner would also serve as a great treat from Cooper who loves chewing on bones.

The total money I spent throughout the day was just $7
So, this is how I would spend my entire day in under $10. I have spent a total of $7. I still have $3 left with me. Yay! Guess I will get the same snacks for 2 more days as in my opinion, that was the best deal I have ever come across in a while now.

You might be wondering how I got all these points on Magicpin right? Well, this was earned by uploading bills regularly.

How did I get so many Magicpin points?

I used to accompany my parents whenever they went grocery shopping and uploaded the bill. I would also go to the medical store and uploaded the medical bill as well. By far the most points that I have earned is by refueling my vehicle.

I had to travel 12 kms for my engineering college and would refuel my vehicle every 2 days for INR 100. Every time I refueled, I would upload the bill which would give me points.

So, by not doing too much extra, I was able to accumulate all these Magicpin points.

Final Thoughts:

Ever since Covid started causing havoc I have not been going out and using Magicpin very often. Plus now that I am earning my own money, I am not on the lookout for deals that much. This contest brought back memories from my engineering times. So, I would like to thank all the organizers of this @bestofindia contest for taking me down memory lane.
