korean adoptee wondering about 백일

I apologize in advance if this isn’t following proper korean online etiquette (also open to learning more about that).

hi! i was adopted from south korea and started to learn more about my birth culture last year. i was told i was put in the orphanage when i was three months old. i recently learned about 백일 and it seems like i was surrendered around that time for me. i was wondering how popular of a tradition it was in the early 80s and if most babies were abandoned before or after their 백일? i could only find limited information about the custom itself, so any additional information (beyond the basic concept) is welcomed too.
