a few months ago before the pandemic hit the earth, my friends and I went on vacation to Pulo Aceh. Pulo Aceh is one of the very end islands located on the west side of Aceh Province and the western boundary of the Indonesia. Most people only know the island of Sabang or Pulau Weh as a famous tourist destination in Aceh, only some people know that there is another hidden beauty on the island's tip of Indonesia, namely Pulo Aceh. This is not the first time I came here, since it was first invited by a friend, I have fallen in love with the beauty of this island. So that every time I have a chance to take a vacation, I come back here again. Pulo Aceh is a sub-district in Aceh Besar District. It consists of 14 villages with a sub-district capital named Lampuyang. The people here work as sailors and there are also those who farm. The basic needs of the people here are supplied through Banda Aceh by using a fishing boat which is the only transportation to and from Pulo Aceh. On this occasion I went around to enjoy the beauty of this island.
When the weather is sunny, it takes about 3-4 hours to surround the entire island. There are so many places that offer beauty on this island. One of them is the Ujeung Peuneung pier. This pier is a legacy from the Dutch during the colonial period. To reach this pier we have to go down through the bush road because only part of the road is paved while the rest is still rocky road. I have never even reached this pier because of various reasons. Nevertheless someday I intend to get there. One more place that you must visit if you are on vacation here, namely William's Torren Lighthouse. There are only 3 lighthouses in the world, the other two are in the Netherlands and the Caribbean island.
While traveling around that time, we passed several villages. One of them is Alue Raya village. The village is quite isolated, even the road to get there is badly damaged, only part of it has been worked on. Fortunately electricity is already in this village. In this village there is also a pier with beautiful views. One of the residents helped us to get to the location.
That's a bit story of my trip to Pulo Aceh that i can here with you. I will share another interesting story about this island with you in another time. Because this island has so many story to tell.
