It really baffles me how technology has evolved and how we currently tackle problems in our world. There are many diseases in the world right now and for some, we have cures whether it is Medicines Vaccines or just a Simple Operation we have it all but today I am going to discuss a Disease named Dengue which is primarily transferred by Mosquitoes. So the natural way to tackle this problem would be to just kill all the Mosquitoes right but as hard as it is to admit that even Mosquitoes have their own benefits to the entire Ecosystem. So killing all the Mosquitoes in the world is not the most useful solution. So it seems Singapore has its own unique solution to tackle the DENGUE problem of their Country.
They made their Mosquito Factory
Yes guys this is true that Singapore has developed an Artificial Mosquito Factory where they produce Male Mosquitoes regularly but with a slight twist. You see they artificially tweak the DNA of the Mosquitoes so that they go out into the Atmosphere and mate with the Female Mosquitoes and make them Inert which means they are unable to lay any more Eggs.
This way they are able to control the number of Mosquitoes in the open Atmosphere to some extent which also was showcased in the decline of Dengue infected patients in the later half of the experiments. The only thing I did not find is the Life Cycle of the Genetically Modified Male Mosquitoes as if they live long then that could create another series of problems, but I feel like they definitely have a short life span compared to Normal Mosquitoes.
