INTRODUCTION
Hello everyone 🤗
I trust we are doing well.
I am Emmanuel and I go by the steemit username @dibie.
I thank God for the successful completion of season 1 of graphic design class here on @steem.skillshare and the commencement of season2,I really learnt a lot in the season1 and I am glad that i am still a part of season2 😁
So today,I will be working on the assignment on season2-lesson2 graphic design class by @lhorgic.

In your own words,What is illustration

Illustration to me is simply a visual representation which dispicts an idea or displays the imagination of an artist.

This illustration most times consist of drawings, painting and even images use by an artist to pass across information or presenting an idea.

It can also be said to be the demostration of an idea or action using drawings, pictures or engravings which is use in telling stories.
Most people tend to pigeonhole illustration
into a very narrow scope, tending to think that it is only about drawing! but no! If your drawing doesn't pass across message, tell a story or doesn't have an idea behind it,then it is merely a work of art,not illustration.. because clearly it doesn't illustration anything!

Every illustration must have something it dispicts or represents,either a story, history,action or message,there has to be an idea behind it.

Illustration does not necessarily need to involve text,it should be designed in an exhaustive way that when people come acrss it,they can easily connect to it and Interpret it with ease

Types of Illustration

Concept Art illustration.

This type of illustration is mostly utilitied in the making of movie,games,comics and other media entertainment industries.
it is use in communicating ideas and passing across information to audience in the media entertainment industries like in production of movies, comics and games that requires special effects for environment, characters and costumes.

Decorative Illustration

Decorative illustration just like it sounds is majorly use for decorating and beautification purpose.
it is use to illustrate,present and express beauty in form of decorations.
It is a kind of illustration that hold intrinsic and esthetic value which amplify an object.

Narrative illustration.

This is a kind of illustration which emphasize more on story telling and passing of message and ideas.
It makes use of visual representation and characters to present and illustrate an idea,tell stories and pass across information.
it can be easily deciphered by audience since it is a narrative illustration.

Differences between Illustration and Graphic design

One of the major difference between Illustration and Graphic design is the fact that illustration requires a lot of drawing work,concept,idea and themes while graphic design doesn't require any drawing work.

illustration is also the creation of specific images that can communicate message or tell stories just by seeing them,while, Graphic design focus on making a design using all designing element such as text,colour,images,fonts,logo etc to present an idea.

Importance of Illustration

•It can be use in telling stories and passing across information.

•concept art illustration is shaping the media entertainment industries in producing quality work of art.

•It is use as a tool in advertising and promoting of a brand, company, products etc.

•it provides a rough sketch of how the finished product/project should look like or would look like since it involves drawing before the commencement of the project.

•It makes packaging more beautiful

Conclusion

Illustration and Graphic design are both Important when it comes to visual representation,one cannot outweigh the other in Importance.
They both are unique in their own way and a person who has the knowledge about illustration can easily delve into graphic design vice versa, since this two art are interwoven.
I won't fail to acknowledge the effort of our amiable graphic design teacher@lhorgic for this wonderful lesson.🤗
