It is generally known in many societies or families that people who dance are valueless and even those who finally make move to get their dreams are given little or no support. Very difficult situation it is to many young starters especially those in the arts sector. I have always wanted to bridge this gap and make people see reasons to always support what young artists are up to.
It has been a very rough journey not getting the acceptance from peers, family or possible supporters; they saw the vision as what has always been. But today Dance For Development is successfully becoming the turning point Organisation for Arts in Bamenda Cameroon.
We are dancers from various genres of dance who use dance to touch lives, earn a living and become sustainable. The organization started in 2019 with little or no sense of direction, still trying to know what has been done and what needs to be done.
We finally got a stand early 2021 with community impacting projects. Educating the masses around us on what on what needs to be done on the various societal ills. Our projects are now linked to the sustainable development goals, SDGS which believe are the core for human growth and development.
We did not just dance for fun again, but our dance videos had messages of education and encouragement.
We have organized workshops to train peace builders in our crises community.
The vision is bigger and we are willing to to do more for our community while trying to put food on our tables with just DANCE, something our parents still do not understand but know we are stubbornly following a good path.
I have succeeded in creating a team of like minded people who see arts not only as a means of catching fun or gaining money but also a medium to impact lives, a medium to teach. I still have much work to do in increasing the size of the team and doing much more work envisioned.
Thank you @alena-vladi for such great contest to let people review their success path.
