You don’t need to overcome every fear you have.
A fear of snakes may not be disruptive to your everyday life if you live in the heart of the city, but it may be a problem if you live in a tropical area with lots of trees and long grass. However, your fear might stop you from going on some great adventures while on vacation.
Have an internal conversation with yourself about what your fears are preventing you from doing, and consider whether it’s a problem that you need to get over. Are your fears causing you to lead a less fulfilling life than the one you hoped for?
What you can do right now:
- Take a notebook
- Consider the pros and cons of facing your fear and overcoming it. Write those down.
- Identify the pros and cons of continuing to live with your fears. Write those down.
- How would your life be different if you overcame your fear? What would you be able to do that you can’t do right now?
- Read over the lists to make a clearer decision about what to do next.
